MICROscopie
Microscopy tools
The purpose of this technical centre is to characterise and highlight the morphologies and structure of the materials synthesised within the unit and to do so relies on a large instrumental park inside the unit, but also located on the Lyon platforms CTµ and CLYM.
Possible characteristics and achievements
Preparation of materials Massive polymers, in multiple layers, in powder form, soft (Elastomer, hydrogel, etc.), in solutions for microscopy and spectroscopy analyses.
- Morphological characterisation of materials at different scales and information on their composition.
- Observations in different modes, environments (high temperature, low temperature, hydrated, etc.)
Examples of achievements
Superhydrophobic PE film
ESEM image
Latex Cryo MET image
First moment of foaming of PU with CryoMEB
Co-extruded PE PS multilayers
Rigid PU segment in AFM
Rigid PU segment in MET (RuO4 contrast)
Equipments
- Semi-automatic mechanical polisher (Presi), Microtome (Leica)
- Optical microscopes (Zeiss, Leica, Olympus)
- Mechanical profiler (Bruker), Atomic force microscopes (Multimode Bruker, Nano-Observer CSI)
- Cryo-ultramicrotome, high-pressure freezing, Cryoplunge Vitrobot
